BEN Mee and Joey Barton shared most of the honours at the supporters’ clubs player of the year awards dinner last night.

The various fans groups presented their awards at an event at Turf Moor with the Clarets two wins away from capping a memorable season with a return to the Premier League.

Mee, who moved from left-back to the centre of defence after the 3-0 defeat at Hull on Boxing Day and has started all of Burnley’s 44 league games this season, took six of the player of the year honours.

He faced stiff competition from midfielder Joey Barton who took four player of the year honours and the Burnley Supporters’ Club’s away player of the season award.

There was also player of the year recognition for Michael Keane and Andre Gray.

Five groups presented a goal of the season award, with all of them choosing Scott Arfield strikes.

Three nominated his memorable match-winner in the first East Lancashire derby of the season back in October, while two went for his superb curling effort after a wonderful team move in the win at Brentford.

Arfield’s derby-day strike also earned the champagne moment award from West Yorkshire Clarets, while Accrington Clarets chose Michael Keane’s stoppage time equaliser at Brighton back on April 2 as their champagne moment.
