JASON Lowe will be named in a Blackburn Rovers first-team squad for the first time in seven months tonight.

Rovers boss Paul Lambert has confirmed the midfielder will travel to Hillsborough for the clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Lowe’s last appearance for the senior side was back on August 28 after undergoing a second operation to solve the foot injury that has plagued him since the summer of 2014.

But the 24-year-old has proved his fitness by making three appearances for Rovers’ under-21s.

After playing 45 and 60 minutes Lowe came through a full match unscathed as Damien Johnson’s team beat Arsenal 1-0 in the U21 Premier League on Friday.

And while he will have to settle for a place on the bench at best tonight he has been told he will be given a chance to impress before the Championship season ends.

Lambert, who has yet to see Lowe in action after taking over the Rovers reins in November, said: “Jason will be in the squad.

“I’ve seen him in training and things have been going well and he’s played for the U21s but it will be the first time I’ll have seen him in and about the group.

“He’s really the only player that we haven’t seen so we’ll have to take a look at him.

“He won’t start but there’s a good chance that he could be on the bench. We’ll see how he’s feeling.

“He hasn’t been involved since the start of the season so you just hope that the foot is all right and he’s ready to play if he’s called upon.”

Tonight’s game will come too soon for fellow midfielder Corry Evans.
