BLACKBURN Rovers boss Paul Lambert believes he now has the team to start repaying the Ewood Park faithful.

After four weeks on the road Rovers return to home soil tomorrow when they entertain high-flying Hull City.

The clash with the second-placed Tigers is the first of seven they will play in front of their own fans in the space of a month.

Lambert hopes the home run gives new-look Rovers the opportunity to pick up the points needed to pull clear of the relegation places.

And he is confident they will do that if they replicate the away performances they have produced in recent weeks.

“It feels like we’ve been away from Ewood for a long, long time,” said Lambert, whose side drew 1-1 at Hull’s title-rivals Middlesbrough last Saturday to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to four matches.

“But we’ve got a run of games at home now and hopefully we can get some wins.

“Home is where you get most of your fans coming to watch you and it’s important we generate what we’ve shown in these last few weeks at home.

“But we have the players to do it now whereas before I never thought we had. We have players who hopefully can excite and make things happen.

“Hopefully we can get more and more fans coming to the games to help try and push us up that table.

“If you get to this stage of the season and you’re in the position Middlesbrough or Hull are, and you think you’ve got a chance of getting out of the division, then you’re pretty sure your stadium is going to be bouncing every week.

“We have to get to that point and get the public into watch us. That’s important because we need them.

“But at the same time we have to entertain them, and get them in, and we’re trying to put together a team that is going to achieve that.”

Rovers have won only three, drawn seven and lost three of their 13 league matches they have played at home this season.

And their return of 12 goals is the lowest in the Championship along with Leeds United.

But Lambert believes the January arrivals of strikers Danny Graham, Tony Watt and midfield playmaker Jordi Gomez, who are set to make their Ewood bows tomorrow, will make a difference.

“They’ve come in and freshened the whole thing up,” said Lambert, who has won one, drawn three and lost one of his five home games in charge since taking over the Rovers reins in November.

“There are a lot of guys who could play on Saturday who have not played at Ewood for Blackburn.

“You’ve got to win more times than not at home and if you can pick up points on the road then you’ve definitely got a chance.

“The supporters have been excellent since we came in and we’ve got to give them something back and perform.

“And, if we play like did last Saturday, then let’s see what happens.”

On facing a relegated Hull side who were knocked off spot by Middlesbrough in midweek, Lambert said: “It’s another tough game. Hull are up there on merit, same as Middlesbrough were, but we’re in a lot healthier place to win a game now.

“We’re going into this game confident and playing well.”
