BLACKBURN Rovers boss Paul Lambert says he was unaware that Derek Shaw was set to leave his position.

But Lambert insists the departure of the club’s managing director will not present him with a problem.

On Tuesday night Rovers announced that Shaw had vacated the role he had held since June 2012 with immediate effect.

It is understood the 58-year-old had previously held discussions about cutting ties with the club.

But Shaw’s Ewood Park exit still came as a surprise to staff and, asked for his take, Lambert said: “I found out probably when you lads did as well.

“Listen, I don’t know too much about it, probably like yourselves, but the club’s put the statement out, what was said, and that’s all I can say because I genuinely don’t know too much about it.”

Asked if he now reports directly to India, where Rovers’ owners Venky’s are based, or somebody else at Ewood, Lambert said: “I’ll have the same lines of communication I’ve always had except Derek.

“There’s no need to have stress. It’s the great world of football we live, you’re never quite sure what’s around the corner, but there’s no problem there.”
