SCOTT Arfield is proud to have reached a century of games for the Clarets in just over two seasons at Turf Moor.

The 26-year-old arrived on a free transfer from Huddersfield in the summer of 2013 and quickly established himself as a key component of Sean Dyche’s promotion-winning side in the 2013/14 season.

Arfield featured in 45 of the 46 Championship games in that season, and then 37 of the 38 Premier League last term.

The Scot has played every minute of this Championship season so far and he is delighted to have reached the 100 games in all competitions landmark so quickly, bringing up the milestone in the win at Rotherham on Friday night.

“It’s a terrific stat to be fair as I’ve done it in under three seasons and it’s a great landmark,” he said. “I’m proud of that and I just want to keep going now.”

Arfield has hit 11 goals in his century of games and came close to adding to that tally against Rotherham.

“It’s a collective thing and you want to win games on an occasion like that,” he said. “I tried to get a goal to mark it but it wasn’t to be and the most important thing is to get the three points.”

After being released by Huddersfield Arfield initially arrived on trial at Turf Moor, joining up with the Clarets in Ireland.

He did enough to secure a permanent deal and as he reflected on a rollercoaster spell with the club the versatile midfielder set his sights on a return to the Premier League, having experienced his first taste of the top flight last year.

“I was saying afterwards how it seems a long time since that trip to Cork before I joined and I got on with the boys really well and scored over there,” said the former Falkirk trainee.

“There have been so many ups and downs but mostly it’s been highs and once you get a taste of that top level you want to be back up there.”

Arfield was involved in Sam Vokes’ winner at the New York Stadium, almost finding the back of the net himself before Vokes buried the follow up.

“I think it was a great save from Camp to be fair as I think I was only about 10 yards out,” he said. “That’s what the strikers need to do. You saw his brilliance with that strike in the first-half.”
