BURNLEY look set to add German targetman Rouwen Hennings to their squad before the first home game of the season this weekend, while still maintaining their pursuit of Nottingham Forest captain Henri Lansbury.

Hennings flew to Manchester yesterday to meet with Turf Moor chiefs over a proposed £3million move from Bundesliga 2 side Karlsruher.

Talks are believed to have been productive with the former Germany Under-21 international.

Clarets manager Sean Dyche has been looking to add to his strikeforce, despite signing Jelle Vossen in the summer, after losing two of his key strikers.

Danny Ings’ departure to Liverpool left a big hole, while Ashley Barnes has had much of this season written off by a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Hennings finished top scorer in his division last season, with 18 goals in 29 games as Karlsruher finished third.

Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday had an offer of 2.5million euros for the 27-year-old rejected last month.

Burnley’s improved bid for the 27-year-old was enough to trigger talks.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman says he will have the final say over Lansbury’s future, but will take the player’s thoughts into consideration.

Burnley remain keen to add the Forest captain, who was an unused sub as Freedman’s men lost 4-3 to Walsall in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night, to their ranks.

“Henri’s opinion will count for a lot. I have to look after the interests of the football club, of myself and of the player – so there are three people who matter in this,” said Freedman.

“I will make the decision with the chairman, over what is best for Forest. You have to take into consideration what the player wants as well. But we also need to balance the books while making sure we remain strong as a team.

“We are looking short in midfield, with Ben Osborn out with food poisoning as well, along with Robert Tesche’s injury. So that has to be a factor. “But we also need a competitive edge on the pitch. The bid has not been rejected. We have noted that they have made a bid and we will get back to them with an answer, when I have had a talk with the chairman and with Henri.

“The final decision will lie with me, this club will always come first. We do not need money; we do not need to sell him. But we have to do what is right.”
