HANNAH Till has been selected for the Lancashire Girls Under 13s cricket team at the tender age of just 10-years-old.

The Rosewood Primary School pupil only attended the trials to give county coaches a glimpse of the talented young wicketkeeper - but she impressed so much she was drafted in to the squad.

Hannah, who plays for Lowerhouse CC's Under 11s cubs has been a big hit ever since taking up the game as an eight-year-old.

She played her first season of competitive cricket last year for the club's Under Nines and Under 11s teams and sprung to prominence after taking five catches in one match.

Stan Heaton, Lowerhouse CC junior cricket manager, said: "Hannah is a very talented young cricketer and an exceptional wicket keeper for her age. We only sent her to the trials because I thought it was important that the Lancashire coaches got a look at her sooner rather than later.

"I had no idea they would pick her for the squad. It is a remarkable achievement when you consider how young she is and we are all very proud of her.

"But I am not totally surprised that Hannah has been picked for Lancashire as she has great technique and coordination for someone so young.

He added: "It can be difficult for girls competing against boys but Hannah has done exceptionally well."

And she has proved to be something of an all-rounder as she has recently helped Burnley FC Girls and Ladies Under 10s win the league and cup double.

Hannah's dad Keith said: "The main thing is that Hannah enjoys her sport and she just happens to be very good at both football and cricket.

"We are very proud of her for getting in to the Lancashire Under 13s squad, especially as she is only 10. But we will not push her and she won't do anything she doesn't want to do."
