BURNLEY face one of the Premier League’s most iconic fixtures tomorrow night, and it is a challenge Sean Dyche insists his side are desperate to embrace.

The Clarets face an in-form Liverpool under the Anfield floodlights, and Dyche said this match is exactly the reason his side fought so hard for promotion 12 months ago.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are top of the form table since Christmas thanks to a run that began with a 1-0 success over Burnley at Turf Moor on Boxing Day, But Dyche is looking forward to the challenge taking on a side unbeaten in 11 league games.

“These are a very good side as the form would suggest,” said Dyche. “It’s not just they’re a good side, they’re delivering performances, they’ve got wins and some big wins against some big teams.

“It’s another challenge but it’s a great thing. A year ago we were chomping at this challenge, so were our fans, and now it’s right here upon us so there’s certainly no fear, it’s just about being clear minded to go and deliver a performance and see where it takes us.

“I say to the players this is the challenge we wanted, we grasp it, we want to run with it, we want to take it on and deliver a performance.”

One Claret who might be keen to show Anfield what he can do is Danny Ings.

The 22-year-old was the subject of January interest from Rodgers and the Reds are leading the chase to sign Ings, Burnley’s top scorer with nine Premier League goals, when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Rodgers is an admirer of the England Under-21 striker and Ings is believed to favour an Anfield move come the summer.

But despite interest from the Reds, Dyche is sure Ings will be keen to give his all for his current employers.

“His determination has been there for all to see,,” Dyche said of his striker. “I think he’s been delivering good performances no matter what.

“He had the one quiet one, and then other than that he’s been very, very good in his performance level, very good around the group and he wants to do well for this football club.”

Dyche also played down fears Ings could be trying too hard to impress his potential future employers.

“He could be in a situation where he just wants to play really well,” he said.
