THE players should never give up, not least for the fans’ sake, but I think the top six has gone for us now.

It says it all when you can’t beat Blackpool at home. If you can’t beat a side as bad as that you don’t deserve to go up.

The defeat to Norwich, which was through no lack of effort, and the draw with Blackpool means it’s four wins from 18 games now.

We’re not going to go up and, while I think Gary Bowyer has done a fantastic job, I don’t know if he can take us to the next level.

OH my aching ribs - it’s the Rovers’ Comedy Club! Those of us who can afford to take a rational and objective view realise that results against the likes of relegation-doomed Blackpool give us a true measure of our ability to make a concerted ‘charge’ for the play-offs.

Do we really think that the teams above us are suddenly all going to wither and collapse allowing us to rise above them?

We’ve blown our chances and have no-one to blame except ourselves. Tactics, team selection and substitutions have left much to be desired.

IT’S highly unlikely.

This year has shown that Rovers lack the consistency and cohesion to challenge the best teams in this division.

A soulless capitulation on Tuesday only served to show that however much the players and manager pay lip service to a strong team spirit, things are in a rut and there needs to be a clearing of the air.
