AFTER the midweek display at Manchester United, I bet Sean Dyche and the lads were dying to get back out this weekend for a game.

We spent much of Wednesday’s game playing Louis Van Gaal’s side off the park and had it not been for a couple of now-customary defensive lapses at corners we might have left with at least a point.

Aside from the lapses which allowed Chris Smalling to notch twice, it was a very strong attacking performance, with Danny Ings the star.

Ings, who apparently spent his Valentines weekend being wooed by David Moyes in Spain, was the best player on the park and his header to draw us level – after sub Smalling had given the Reds the lead seconds after coming on – was among the best I’ve seen in a long time.

Talking of his proposed move to La Liga with Real Sociedad, the thing that surprised me most about his trip was that Blackpool Airport had reopened!

Seriously though, I know a few people will disagree but I think a move to Spain would be good for him.

I know Moyes’ job might not be the safest - who is in a safe job these days? - but I’ve always thought more players should try their luck abroad.

If he recreates anything like his best form over there then a whole host of top class European clubs are almost guaranteed to come knocking.

Dyche said on Sky yesterday that he felt Danny’s level was top end of the Premier League and while I’d agree with the gaffer, I’d hate to see him go to Liverpool or Spurs and sit on the bench.

There seems to be a bit of a mistrust in English talent and we’ve seen so many times before promising young players move to a big club and then find themselves in the reserves.

Whatever he chooses I hope he makes the decision for the right reason and fans offer their best wishes.

Our best chance of staying up was – and still is – with Danny firing on all cylinders and he’s certainly doing that.

A move abroad means we’ll only get the club £300,000 for him but if we stay up that’s £60m - a hell of a lot more than we’d get in transfer fees.
