I’LL be honest, at first I didn’t think Ashley Barnes was good enough for Burnley. But he has really proved me wrong.

He has done so well recently and shown that he is value for the money we paid to sign him from Brighton last January.

He’s got a good shot on him. It was a great finish against Tottenham and against Manchester City too.

He seems to have a good way of hitting the roof of the net, he’s scored some good goals and let’s hope he keeps it up.

He holds the ball up well too and that’s a big part of the game.

It’s not just about scoring goals, although he’s doing that too!

The last few weeks will have done a lot for his belief, because he knows he can do it at this level now.

It’s good that we’ve got Ashley here who can score goals for us if Danny Ings does go in the summer, but I’m still hoping that won’t happen.

It would cost a lot of money to replace a player like Danny, and it’s good to hear that he doesn’t plan to go anywhere in January.

That’s important because there were five or six clubs being linked with a move for him.

It’s a pity that the FA Cup game with Tottenham is on Monday night and I hope it doesn’t affect the crowd too much.

Sunday afternoon would have been a great afternoon for football – maybe it was down to the fact that Accrington Stanley might have been playing Manchester United that day.

Monday will be a lot of people’s first day back at work and it’s certainly a lot harder for the Tottenham fans to get here then.

But we’ve had some good cup games against Tottenham over the years and hopefully this will be another one.

After the performances we’ve had against Liverpool and Man City, I would fancy our chances against anyone and I think we can get a win and book our place in round four.
