It is the third time Vokes has featured for the Under 21 side, having previously played 45 minutes against Carlisle, 70 minutes against Sheffield United and then last week’s full game against Wigan Athletic.

The 25-year-old will be looking to add to his tally of three goals in those games in this afternoon’s outing.

Boss Sean Dyche is keen to see the Wales international get more minutes on the pitch before making his first team return.

“He’ll play again this week,” said the Burnley boss.

“It’s game time now with Vokesy. He’s done all the training he can do, it’s all about game time now.

“He needs enough minutes under his belt to feel right again.

“When we’re happy with that there’ll be a chance to play him in the first team when that comes.

“We want everyone as fit as they can be. It’s helpful when everybody’s fit because there’s more bodies available.”

Vokes scored 20 goals in 39 league games last season before suffering the injury against Leicester City on March 29.
