WELL, I was right in saying that the two goals Danny Ings scored for England Under-21s would be a boost to his confidence.

Against Stoke City he was amazing, scoring twice in 105 seconds and giving fans an away win in the Premier League for the first time since Hull City were beaten in April 2010.

Danny has taken the accolades for the tremendous victory. But in all honesty it was a great team effort and I was pleased with the performance.

The manager has it spot on when he says we do what is deemed impossible and make it possible. Sean Dyche has instilled that same attitude into his players and, after a difficult start to the season, it is working for them.

Ings will get the praise for his double but the players around him did all the hard work in getting him and the ball into the box for him to apply the finishing touch on both occasions. He was the first to pay tribute to his team-mates too for their efforts in earning three more precious points.

Cheered on by another tremendous away following, George Boyd, Tom Heaton and Michael Duff were outstanding on the day too and played a major part in getting that vital win. Ashley Barnes alongside Danny did well too, while Jason Shackell has kept his back four well marshalled.

It is good to see the national sports writers saying Burnley are on the march towards safety. If we can maintain the same standard of performance, I am sure this can be achieved.

But we cannot and should not get carried away. We have had to fight tooth and nail for the points picked up so far and we will have to keep doing that.

Now we have two home games to come, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United visiting Turf Moor in the next few days.

Although Villa picked up a point against high-flying Southampton on Monday night, they are struggling. Newcastle, on the other hand, have turned their season around after calls for Alan Pardew’s head earlier in the campaign.

Things can change in an instant in this game and it just goes to show that there are no easy games. We cannot afford to underestimate anybody.

But the attitude of the team against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium — a difficult venue — gives me great belief that we can start a run of results.

I feel we have got some sort of momentum going with back-to-back wins, the first coming against Hull City before the international break.

It will not be easy to make it three in a row but I fully believe we can do it.
