A NATHAN Lowe double helped Burnley U21s to a 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday afternoon.

The Clarets midfielder opened the scoring after just three minutes with a fine 25-yard strike and he doubled his and Burnley's tally in the second half with an equally fine strike.

It was a third win in a row for Burnley who made eight changes from last week's win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Lowe's early strike was the highlight of the first half with the Clarets backline comfortably dealing with the Bolton strikers Tom Eaves and Samni Odelusi.

The midfielder's opener came after he fought to regain possession and then finished clinically.

The Clarets only other chance in the opening period fell to Jamie Frost but he couldn't steer home.

The second half began as the first did with Lowe finding the net in stunning fashion. This time his strike was from fully 30-yards as his half volley flew into the top corner.

Jason Gilchrist nearly added a third when he saw a shot superbly blocked after fine approach play from Steven Hewitt and Jayden Hall.

Bolton offered little threat in attack and Connor Mitchell in the Clarets goal didn't have a save of note to make in a second period which Burnley comfortably saw out.

The Clarets youngsters now turn their attention to a clash away at Liverpool on Friday.
