BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche believes he has added 'quality and quantity' with the capture of George Boyd on a three-year deal from Hull City.

The Scotland international became a transfer deadline day capture, in a deal believed to equal the club's record £3million signing of Steven Fletcher in 2009.

The Clarets moved quickly after hearing of Boyd's availability, and Dyche said: "He's a player me and my staff have liked for a long time. The reason for the lateness of it was purely that we didn't think he was available.

"His availability was only in a matter of days really, Steve Bruce is a big fan of his but just felt that he didn't want to hold him back more than anything.

"There's certainly no lack of physicality from him. We know the distances he covers and the way he looks after himself, but also the quality.

"You look at his record down the years, he scores goals, he can create goals. We've gone up a level and that's harder to do so we need the people who can do it."

A great signing for you lot and one that clearly fits into the Dyche mentality.

Another international joining the ranks too, and at £3m I'd say this represents good business.

So good that Hull don't want him and are prepared to sell him to fellow relegation contenders.

Lets talk through Blackburn's summer transfer business shall we:

Chris Brown - so good that he was relegated with Donny last year,

Luke Varney - ha ha ha ha the worst Leeds side in history didn't want him

Baptiste - absolutely awful full back

Duffy - Another player who played so well his club were relegated into League One

We are quite literally operating in a different financial league from Freebie Blackburn, run along and bother someone on maybe a Bolton or Blackpool forum somewhere.

Hi Harwood, How's your day going? I'd take being a yo-yo club for a while. If we come down it's not a disaster, it's not the end of the world. We can come back down being a much bigger fish in a much smaller pool. If we stay up then that's a bonus. I actually think we can stay up because, although huge amounts of money is being spent by clubs the vast majority of it is by clubs dreaming of Europe, there are some very ordinary sides in the prem, and I hope we are one of them come the end of the season. How are Rovers going too compete with the money being spent (in my view stupidly) in the Championship? I'm not being critical, I know your situation, but the amount of cash being forked out by one or two clubs there is, I think, suicidal. And it hasn't done Fulham an ounce of good so far has it? Long term though, you must worry?

Hello houseclaret. Yes having a fine day thanks and enjoying all the transfer news. Yes I agree if relegated you would be in a much stronger position with a few million banked and in a good position to strengthen further. But that is by no means certain and you'll see I said "may or may not be a matter of months" Just having a dig at the'game boy' troll who infests both sites and has no interest in football other than winding people up on here.
Boyd should be a good signing and will strengthen your squad so Dyche is going for the right people given those that he's tried to sign but missed. There's still a few hours to go to bring in others so should be interesting.
You are right we can't spend much given ffp. Money helps but as you say is no guarantee of anything. You didn't do too bad last season after spending virtually nothing. We're going to have to try to do the same but can the virtually impossible be done twice?
Anyway we've made a start with signing Duffy, a good young player by all accounts, who will hopefully shore up our leaky defence.
Anyway good luck for the season. It won't be easy for either team.
