Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman has refused to give up hope of signing long-term target Luke Rodgers.

Crewe have accepted an offer from Swindon Town for the transfer-listed 25-year-old, who has failed to command a starting spot in Dario Gradi's side.

But Coleman, who has chased the former Shrewsbury Town trainee for some time, still believes he can tempt him to the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

He said: "A fee has been agreed with Crewe but he hasn't moved yet. I still hope something can be done."

Rodgers has already rejected a possible move to Hereford United.

Gradi said: "He has rejected the chance to go to Hereford and I've spoken to him concerning an interest from Swindon.

"We have agreed a fee with them and he is free to speak to them if he wants to.

"A few people have asked about him and there is another club interested, but they have to get one out before they can get anyone in.

"Luke has said he doesn't want to move down a division and I don't know if he has changed his mind."

Coleman revealed he was also in the process of adding more new faces to his squad and was looking at drafting in at least one new signing by the end of the week.
