ACCRINGTON Stanley's glamour friendly against Chinese side Chengdu Blades tonight is off.
Officials cancelled the game last night following relentless rain and Reds chief executive Rob Heys admitted there was very little hope of the weather improving in time for the match to go ahead.
Heys said: "It's really unfortunate, but there are puddles on the pitch and the next 24 hours was forecast for the rain to continue."
The match against the Chinese outfit, who are owned by Sheffield United, was part of a four-match tour of England that included games against Worksop, Sheffield United reserves and a showcase match against United next Monday.
Heys added: "I think everybody was looking forward to something a bit different. It was a break from league action, playing an international side from another country."
However, Heys did hint that the success of the recently launched Accrington Stanley Asia web site could see a game arranged in the future, or even a potential visit to the Far East.
