WITH several key players missing through injury Colne's shortcomings were soon in evidence and after just one minute Glossop could have been in the lead, but for the woodwork and a double save by Mark Crossley.
Glossop continued to pile on the pressure and on 30 minutes they were awarded a penalty, but Dave Young blasted high and wide.
Colne then started to come into the game more with Kieron Roberts dominating in midfield and he was unfortunate to see his header from a Michael Cruz corner cleared off the line.
Just before the break Colne had Crossley to thank again when Lee Evans seemed certain to score from two yards out.
In the second half the game was evenly matched until Lee Blackshaw found himself unmarked at the far post to open the scoring for Glossop.
Then 10 minutes later Colne suffered a disastrous four-minute period conceding three more goals after some woeful defending.
Immediately in desperation the visitors threw on all three substitutes, which seemed to galvanise the side, and within a minute they pulled a goal back when James Blackburn glanced home Anthony Murt's cross.
But that was to prove little more than a consolation.
