COLNE won this local derby match at the third attempt and set up a League Challenge Cup third round clash against the mighty FC United.
Robbie Smith gave Nelson the lead with a penalty on 25 minutes, but Gavin Cooper levelled with a curling free kick just after the half hour mark.
James Blackburn put Colne ahead on 76 minutes before Anthony Murt made sure of the win with just five minutes remaining.
And in the seventh minute of injury time Blackburn added his second and Colne's fourth.
