Those looking for an explosive live return from Staten Island's Wu Tang Clan may have been left a little disappointed.
But whilst the show was perhaps a little chaotic and disjointed, there is no arguing with the fact that RZA, Method Man et al are still a seminal act in the fabric of 20th century music.
Not helped by a soundsystem best described as inadequate, the hits lacked the bite they do on record and the far-from-perfect version of Gravel Pit at the end of the show summed the whole night up.
That should have been the end of it all but Method Man and RZA weren't quite finished and cracked out studio versions - or at least sections of them - of new songs on the decks.
Nas may have said that hip hop was dead but even tonight it is clear to see that he may have been just a little premature with his predictions.
