Firefighters were called out to a moorland fire in Prickshaw Village near Whitworth at midday yesterday.
It took an hour to put out the fire, which firefighters believe was started by farmers to encourage fresh grass growth.
Crews were also called to a moorland fire above New Line Reservoir at about 4pm yesterday. One crew put out the blaze in about 30 minutes.
