A SCHOOLGIRL has got designs on the sweet taste of success.

And Zoe Cockerhill is already on the right track because her creative flair will be displayed in supermarkets across the country.

The 10-year-old, from Bradshaw, is the artist behind the new label for Duerr's marmalade jars.

Her winning design saw off competition from thousands of children across the UK and will be displayed on 25,000 jars in Sainsbury's stores across the country.

Zoe, who saw the first jars of marmalade featuring her design come off the production line, said: "I was shocked. I didn't expect to win. I love art. The idea for the design just came into my head from adverts on television and from reading.

"I do like marmalade if it is the shredless sort."

Duerr's, founded in 1881, launched the nationwide competition in May to find a new design for its jars to celebrate its 125th anniversary.

Hundreds of schools took part and pupils were give a label template to fill with designs. Zoe's limited-edition jars will be on sale for 125 days.

Her design includes the slogan "It's marmalitios."

The youngster, who attends Eagley Junior School, wants to become a fashion designer.

Teacher Karen Hogg said: "It is fantastic that Zoe has won this competition. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part - it's not often that they get the chance to compete for a money-can't-buy prize such as this."

Duerr's marketing director Richard Duerr said: "We have never done anything like this before and we thought it would be a great opportunity for the nation's up and coming artists to express their talent.

"We chose Zoe's design because it was both colourful and exciting - just like marmalade!"
