BOXING star, Amir Khan, has been charged with dangerous driving.

Police said today the 19-year-old Olympic silver medallist, was arrested at 12.20pm on Saturday and taken to Bolton Central Police Station.

His arrest follows an accident in Bradshawgate in the town centre in March in which a pedestrian suffered a broken leg.

Khan was driving his BMW convertible when the accident happened outside the Last Orders pub.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "On Thursday, March 2, police were called to Bradshawgate in Bolton at about 4.45pm following reports that a car was in collision with a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital suffering from a broken leg."

Khan was said to be very shaken following the incident and watched from the pavement as paramedics tended to the casualty.

There was a passenger in the car with Khan, 18-year-old Sajeed Mohamed.

Khan appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Monday and was released on bail to reappear on July 24.

Khan, who won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, is due to fight Scot Colin Bain on July 8 at the Millennium Stadium, in Cardiff.
