PETER Kay relaxes between filming scenes for his role as a monstrous baddie in this week's episode of Doctor Who.

In this exclusive photograph taken behind the scenes in Cardiff in March, the Bolton comedian shares a joke with co-star Marc Warren, probably best known as conman Danny Blue from the hit BBC show Hustle.

Peter plays the sinister Victor Kennedy in "Love and Monsters", this Saturday's episode of Doctor Who, starring David Tennant as the Doctor and Billie Piper as his companion Rose Tyler.

Kennedy, a sinister stranger who always carried a silver topped cane, joins a group formed by Marc's character Elton, in a bid to find out more about the mysterious Doctor after various sightings of the Time Lord and his TARDIS around the country over the years.

But Peter's character is really the nasty Abzorbaloff designed by a young Blue Peter competition winner who wants to find the Doctor for his own unpleasant reasons.

The part meant a long session in the make-up chair for Peter as he was fitted with the revolting looking rubber costume and facial prosthetics.

But he says he enjoyed every minute of the five-day shoot in Wales.

"It was brilliant, I loved it. Fancy being in Doctor Who and getting to play two characters! It was amazing," he said.

Meanwhile, Peter will be a guest on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, tomorrow night on BBC One at 10.35pm, where he will talk about Doctor Who and how work is going on his autobiography, focusing on the years before he became famous Don't miss our exclusive interview with Peter on what it was like being a Doctor Who monster. It is in Friday's Bolton Evening News.
