A Blackpool couple's fashion label has had worldwide exposure after receiving an unexpected boost from a Big Brother contestant.

Seany O'Kane, who entered the Channel 4 house on June 8, is a regular customer of Gordon Cullerne, 31, and girlfriend Angela Hulme, 30.

The 25-year-old contestant, who is originally from Northern Ireland, but now lives in Manchester, has attracted attention for his eccentric dress sense since entering the house.

The couple, who have been together for seven years, run the Me&Yu shop in Affleck's Palace, Manchester, but design and make the clothes from their Peter Street home in Blackpool.

Gordon said: "We were in bed when the pre-entrance video came on, and Seany was wearing one of our t-shirts and a hoodie, it was a real shock.

"We know him fairly well as he buys a lot of stuff from us.

"He came in three or four weeks ago and bought a lot of stuff, but we never expected anything like this.

"It's been great for business though, we've had a wholesale order from Russia recently, as well as orders from France, Germany and Denmark.

"We've got a lot of promotion from other websites as well since they've seen our designs."

The couple started the business when spending 12 months in Australia in 2003, as a way to earn some extra money, and it has been growing ever since.

"We both went full-time with it about a year ago," said Gordon.

"Angela got made redundant so it seemed a good time to devote more time to it. She has a fashion degree and it was something that we both wanted to do.

"As we get busier we have to spend more time in Blackpool, as we need to design and make more clothes.

"But as long as the business is doing well that is great."

The couple's free publicity could be coming to an end sooner than expected though, with Seany one of three contestants nominated for eviction this week.
