CYBERMEN and Ogrons mixed with human beings at a sci-fi event held to raise money for charity.

And three stars of the BBC show Doctor Who - Sophie Aldred, Stuart Fell and Lisa Bowermen - travelled to the third timelord convention, where fans were able to take part in group interviews and had the chance to win Doctor Who memorabilia.

The actors were joined by jugglers and stilt walkers, all of whom were trying to boost funds for Cancer Research.

The event, held at Darwen Cricket Club, was organised by the Doctor Who Autograph Collectors Club. Money was raised through ticket sales.

Event organiser Graham Groom said: "One in three people are affected by cancer and so this year we wanted to raise money for Cancer Research, a very worthy cause."

Lizzie Jones, Cancer Research community fundraiser, said: "Innovative activities such as the Doctor Who convention make a tremendous difference to our fundraising."
