MONTHS of struggling up and down the stairs at Bury Interchange are over for Metrolink passengers.
The station's escalator is now up and running after a prolonged breakdown. The newly-refurbished escalator was switched on last Friday, eight months after it was taken out of service.
Repair work began in October after Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive said that parts for the machinery had been sourced from overseas.
The previous escalator had been in use for more than 26 years.
