COULD someone please explain to me this year's obsession with cutting the grass on the verges of the arterial road in Blackburn?

Every month it has caused disruption, especially towards Whitebirk roundabout.

The grass looks like somebody's well manicured lawn.

I counted on one occasion at least 15 men, putting down cones, strimming, mowing and sweeping.

It is a waste of time and manpower to do it so often.

How about scattering wild flower seeds along the verges as on many motorways or to follow the example of the wonderful displays on the two roundabouts of the A59 at Clitheroe?

Absolutely beautiful.
