I WOULD like to give a big thank you to the generous people of Hyndburn and the surrounding towns who have supported our charity Hyndburn Stray Dogs In Need.

This charity has been up and running since 2001. Hasn't time flown? The success of the charity has grown and grown.

Over 1,000 dogs have now got loving new homes and a large amount of veterinary treatment has been paid for since we started.

It costs about £48 per week to kennel a dog and about £30-£40 to have a dog inoculated, wormed etc.

You, the good people of Hyndburn, have helped to pay for all this by donating money via our collecting tins, and by giving goods to our charity shop (15 Whalley Road, Accrington) and buying them back.

Without the support of the people of Hyndburn we would not exist. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the many people who work for the charity.

They all do their bit and without their support we could not continue doing our bit for the stray dogs that end up on our streets.

STEVE WOOD, Chairman, Hyndburn Stray Dogs In Need, Norden View, Harwood Road, Rishton.
