AS the residents' group which initiated action over the environmental impact of Whinney Hill tip and proposed expansion and access, we are still concerned that our voice in this matter has been somewhat neglected.

The plans for the waste station and access routes are still a concern for residents all round the area, but especially for us as the tip is in the Altham area.

We do wish to express to all that our campaign is very much alive.

Our concern is primarily regarding proposed access to the site and from the waste station to the tip.

Our campaign for a route off junction 8 of the M65 still stands as the most logical route, due to minimising environmental impact, as it will have least effect on residents in the area and we stand by this as opposed to the Griffin roundabout route.

Only the Highways Agency is opposed to this and it is imperative that all parties, residents and local MP become more vocal to support logic over agencies miles away who will not have to live with the impact of their decisions.

GEOFF HILL, Chairman, Enfield Residents' Association, Whalley Road, Clayton le Moors.
