I HAVE read with interest on your letters page, people's observations of the general state of affairs in this area.

Placing a large lamp costing £50k when there is a shortage of porters to do essential work at the hospital.

Free driving lessons for youths to what end I wonder?

So called art' in Blackburn town centre, about which I have heard nothing positive.

Housing for salt, costing an astronomical amount, and no finances for housing the elderly.

Today I heard of a judge that felt sorry for a man convicted of witness intimidation and actual bodily harm.

In his wisdom, the judge decided that after this delicate soul started to cry, he would lessen the sentence from six months in prison to 200 hours community work and a £500 fine.

I, and no doubt many others, could go on and on and on.

I realise that there are budgets to consider, but when I do my housekeeping I don't buy ornaments when there is only money for a roof above our heads and food on the table.

Have these people never heard of reallocation to take care of the priorities?
