I am writing with regard to County Council staff being banned from flying the flag for England and the staff branding the County Council as killjoys.

The Council are not only killjoys they are disloyal, unpatriotic and traitors to England and should be punished for treason.

And if it is as one employee said, ‘for some reason they (the Council) are afraid of upsetting someone’, they are not only killjoys, unpatriotic and traitors, they are cowards as well. They should be proud to fly the flag for England, and not be afraid of upsetting someone in doing so.

The upset one (if there is one) can go and fly his/her own flag.

I am very angry. We should not be afraid to fly our flag for any reason. As a child during the Second World War I did not see my dad for a few years as he was fighting in Italy and Africa for a free England.

But I was one of the lucky ones, a lot not only lost a few precious years they lost their father, husband, sons forever, and this is still happening and for what?

So that some stupid, anti-English halfwit traitor can ban the flying of the flag of England for fear of upsetting someone.

I would like to congratulate Hyndburn Council leader Peter Britcliffe, for as he says, ‘We are flying the flag loud and proud from our civic buildings’ – you are a true Brit. I am also pleased to hear that Blackburn with Darwen Council are showing a little pride and patriotism by ‘displaying the St George in a light display on Blackburn Town Hall’. Last, but not least my congratulations to Ribble Valley Council as ‘They will be flying the flag from Clitheroe Castle, but will not allow staff to wear football shirts at work’ they are putting things in perspective.
