STAN Melling (LT 3/6/10) could not be more wrong in his letter. It would appear that our MPs are very much in touch with the man in the street.
Has Mr Melling forgotten that there has just been an election. The voters have been quite happy to return many of the MPs who got caught up in the expenses scandal.
There have been almost no independents voted in, indeed Ester Rantzen who stood on an anti-sleaze ticket, ended up losing her deposit.
How ironic that someone standing against the sleaze of the money-making MPs ending up out of pocket while the politicians in question get re-elected.
I am afraid, Stan, that the old saying the public will get what they deserve is largely true.
