IT is fair to say that, having read the council’s intent to charge people £10 to have their household goods removed, people will fly tip.

There are several reasons for this – firstly, when you ring the town hall asking for items to be removed, you are given a date within the next seven working days.

So to ask people to wait on the council’s pleasure and to be charged £10 is, I’m afraid, asking too much.

Secondly, Blackburn is a poor town. You have only to look at the cheap shops springing up in the town centre.

Plus, we are in a recession and £10 is a lot of money to most people.

So my advice is to think again before we are mowed under with more rubbish.
