REGARDING the floral displays that disappeared from Darwen (LET, May 27), I saw some of the tiered baskets and square containers on the back of a lorry in Gladstone Street, Blackburn on the day before Her Majesty's visit.
They were full of fresh blooms obviously destined for Blackburn. Perhaps they were just borrowed?
Regarding the Flying Haggis pub on Church Street. It was covered for the visit, but I saw covers being taken down at 11.30am the same day and thought it indecent haste.
Mr Langhorn had nothing to complain about as there would have been little or no trade anyway. It was a small price to pay for the honour of a visit by the monarch of this country.
Other traders went out of their way to make her feel welcome and even gave out goodies to the waiting crowds. Some people are only happy when they can moan.
EILEEN EASTHAM, Milton Close, Darwen.
