THE Royal visit to Blackburn on May 25 gave the town a morning to remember.
The sun made a rare appearance, the town centre was buzzing and the police presence, while enough to ensure the safety of the monarch, was still low key enough to allow those who had come for a glimpse of the Royal visitors to do just that.
Well done to Blackburn with Darwen Council and the police for achieving this.
Phil Watson and Councillor Kate Hollern were full of praise for and quite rightly thanked those whose hard work ensured the visit was an undoubted success.
Unfortunately they forgot to thank the three ladies who, having spent most of the time in Cafe Beees, emerged as the Queen arrived and rudely stood in front of those of us, including my 85-year-old mother, who had stood patiently for one and a half hours behind the barrier, thus obscuring our view of the unveiling of the plaque. We really appreciated it.
Dignitaries or not, there is no excuse for ignorance.
