DARWEN Tower has been impressing local residents since it was opened on September 22, 1898.
P A Madden's suggestion to knock it down and replace it with something modern should be treated with much derision.
It was built to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and is part of Darwen's Heritage.
And let's not forget any new tower would be given the odious name of Blackburn with Darwen Tower.
