A FEW weeks ago Pendle Council pulled up all the concrete flags on Livingstone Street, Brierfield, as most were in a poor condition.
The whole street was then laid with a new surface, a good job well done, except for the fact it held water and the slope was the wrong way.
A week later it was all dug out again and relaid once more with road surfacing, plus a concrete channel running the whole length of the street up to the side of the houses. Job finished but at double the original expense.
No wonder council tax always goes up every year.
Will someone be sacked for this major blunder? I doubt it, but if a private firm had made a mess like the council, they would have been cleared off by Pendle and told not to do any more work for them.
A R JAMES, Livingstone Street, Brierfield.
