Andrew Bell stated in his letter (LT, Feb 21) the problems with traffic going through the middle of Witton Country Park park – disgruntled parents moving kids out the way of traffic, etc.

As the kids have full use of the vast park, why should anyone be grumbling that they have to move their kids off the road that runs through the park?

Is there not enough grassland or paths going round the park to play on?

Obviously not, they want the road as well – yes, in case it has not been mentioned, it is a road. Would kids be on other roads? No.

I don’t condone speeding and all vehicles should be extra slow and alert, and all parents extra vigilant.

But the vehicles are on the road, not going across the grass through the park.

I personally don’t drive down the road. I park on the car park.

But I have no reason to need my car further up as I go for walks or take my child on her bike.

Also, I use the green land or the paths which is what they were intended for.

I for one would be complaining if vehicles went over the grass but complaints are futile when only the road is being used for the purpose it was made for.
