LET's get straight to the facts - the Mela event in Blackburn catered predominantly for the Islamic communities in Blackburn, whereas the Arts in the Park events catered for the predominantly white-based communities in Blackburn.

Why is it now, after three successful events of both festivals have the council decided to renege on both events and decided to merge them together?

Haven't all those events proved to be a success?

As for moving the merged event to the town centre, I believe this will act as a deterrent for families with young children and it will increase the chances of trouble.

It is about time Blackburn with Darwen Council realised there is a divide between the cultures in Blackburn.
