FANTASY author Adele Cosgrove-Bray is going back to her old haunt next week.

She will return to Golborne High School on Monday ( February 25) where she reading one of her ghost stories before inviting questions on writing and the publishing business.

Pupils will hear Seagull Inn, a story set on Hilbre Island in the Dee Estuary. which was published in an anthology last year.

Adele left the school in 1980, then attended Leigh College for two years before working as an editor and freelance writer, later attending the City of Liverpool Community College's art and design faculty and the Riversdale Campus pottery studio.

Adele began writing poetry at the age of fourteen, and at seventeen became a member of Leigh Writers' Workshop, when her first poem plus a humorous small article were published.

She went on to write and illustrate a monthly dream analysis column for a magazine and self-published a quarterly music fanzine called Smokin' Dragon for four years before becoming more interested in writing fiction.

She was elected chairman of the Riverside Writers in 2003, a post she still holds. She is also a member of Wirral Writers Inc and is an ambassador for Liverpool's European Capital of Culture 2008 celebrations.

Adele has worked as an editor for The Birchwood Guidebook, as an health promotion officer for South Sefton Health Authority, a library assistant at the Religion and Philosophy Library at Liverpool City Libraries, a photographer, a tarot card reader, and as a potter and tour guide for Pretty Ugly Pottery.

She has been a member of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids since 1999.

She has lived on the Wirral peninsula in Cheshire since the Millennium, where she now writes full-time. Her husband, Richard, opened his own tattoo studio in Liverpool city centre in 1993 and they share life with two dogs, two cats and an assortment of hedgehogs and bats.

Adele, who often returns to Lowton to visit her family, said: "I'm looking forward to seeing my old school again. It will be interesting to see how things have changed."
