A new £750,000 centre that is set to revolutionise plastic surgery in Lancashire has opened in Preston.

Inspired by the successful American system of day case surgery, Sandon House Clinic offers the very latest surgical and non-surgical treatments in a state of the art centre in Millennium City Park, just off junction 31A of the M6.

The clinic has been launched by Peter Paterson, an NHS consultant plastic surgeon at the Royal Preston Hospital, who says the opening of Sandon House is the culmination of a 20 year dream.

His aim is to make plastic surgery accessible and affordable to everyone by offering day case treatments such as facelifts, eye bag removal, liposuction and mini tummy tucks at a fraction of the price charged by many other clinics. Fees are up to 50 per cent cheaper because the treatments do not require an overnight stay.

Other procedures such as breast augmentation or reduction, and rhinoplasty nose reshaping) are performed as part of a partnership with a nearby private hospital.

Mr Paterson, who grew up in Preston and attended the former Parklands High School, said: "Attitudes towards plastic surgery have changed over the last 10 years and people increasingly feel they don't have to put up with a problem that could be treated.

"The majority of my patients are not wealthy, proving that plastic surgery is no longer the sole domain of the rich and famous. I want to make plastic surgery more accessible to the public and open up new possibilities for people who may not have considered surgery before.

"The transformation can be life changing because of the positive knock-on effect it creates. Patients start buying new clothes, booking holidays or going to the gym because they feel so confident about themselves."

At Sandon House, the emphasis is on a personal and caring service. Facilities in the modern, purpose built clinic include comfortable consultation and examining rooms, a laser suite room for treatments such as hair removal and thread vein removal, twin surgical suites, and three private recovery rooms equipped with leather recliners, refreshments and televisions.

Every patient has to undergo a consultation before surgery and, as a matter of routine, a letter will be sent to a patient's family doctor informed them of the treatment provided.
