LIBRARY-goers will be given baskets to carry books following suggestions by residents.
Blackburn with Darwen council asked for ideas about how to improve its service as part of National Customer Service week.
Ann Adeyemi, of Temple Drive, Blackburn, won a £50 Christmas hamper for her idea, putting shopping-style baskets in libraries to help people carry books.
Coun Michael Law-Riding, executive member for culture and leisure, said: "People often choose several books and maybe a couple of dvds or cds when they visit the library and it can be difficult to carry them all."
The collapsible mesh baskets will be available at Blackburn central library and Darwen library in the new year.
