The 28-year-old man who died following a racist attack in Bolton on Friday 21 December 2007, has been formally identified.
Asaf Mahmood Ahmed of Broomfield Road in Bolton was found in a collapsed condition behind the Derby Ward Labour Club on Deane Road at about 9.50pm.
He had been severely assaulted and died at the scene.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the attack and anyone with any further information is asked to contact the Incident Room on 0161 856 1722 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder continue to be questioned.
Supt Andy Durkin from Bolton police said: "We are treating this as a racist incident because of language and comments that were overheard by witnesses at and immediately after the incident which led them to believe this was a racist incident.
"I would like to stress that the motive for the attack remains unknown at this stage and is a significant line of inquiry."
