A MAN was found hanged in the stairwell of his Ribchester home, an inquest heard.
Kenneth Birkett, 58, of Church Street, who was blind and partially deaf, was found by his sister Maureen Charnley on September 16.
Mrs Charnley told the inquest she started to get concerned about his welfare when a relative noticed his milk had been left out on the doorstep.
She said despite Kenneth's initial concerns about losing sight in both of his eyes, he had been coping well.
Mrs Charnley said: "He coped with his disabilities very well. He used to say if he lost the sight in his other eye as well then he might as well go to Preston and jump off the station bridge but since that, which was nine years ago, he coped marvellously.
"It was a hell of a shock to find him like that."
Deputy coroner Carolyn Singleton recorded a verdict that he had killed himself.
