Police plea over arson at derelict Burnley house

FIREBUGS caused a blaze in a derelict house in Burnley.

Firefighters were called to Hurtley Street, in the Daneshouse area of the town, after teenagers started a fire on the ground floor of a boarded-up mid-terrace house on Saturday.

Police and fire crews attended the outbreak shortly after 7pm.

It is believed vandals had entered the house, earmarked for demolition in the coming months, via an insecure derelict property next door.

An investigation has been launched to establish the exact cause of the fire and who started it.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
