AN Accrington bookmakers was raided by robbers last night.
Two men, one dressed in a balaclava, burst into Paddy Power bookmakers in Union Street as the two female members of staff were closing for the night.
One of the thieves grabbed one of the women by the neck and verbally threatening her, demanding money.
The men were given some cash from the safe and they then ran from the shop, back out onto the high street.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses who were in the area to come forward.
DS Julie Cross from Accrington CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this to come forward. In particular, I would be keen to speak to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Union Street area between 9pm and 10:20pm.”
Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
