Armed robbers raid Breightmet bingo hall

Armed robbers armed with a handgun and knife stole money from a bingo hall in Bolton.

Two men walked into the Mecca Bingo, Breightmet and approached members of staff at 7pm on Sunday October 7.

They threatened them and demanded money before they left with a large quantity of cash.

No one was injured and inquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Chris Walker from Bolton CID said: “There were a large number of people inside the hall at the time but thankfully no one was hurt. I would ask anyone who may have been outside Mecca Bingo at the time of the incident to contact us.

“We believe a black Ford Mondeo ST model saloon car with an 03 plate may have been used as a getaway vehicle and I would ask anyone who may have seen a similar car in the area, either a few days before or at the time of the robbery, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 5740 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
