The date for Chorley’s Christmas lights switch on has been announced.
The big event will take place on Saturday, November 24, with a spectacular stage show in the town centre and the big switch-on by special guests – to be revealed in the next few weeks.
The town centre parade which has taken place in recent years will not go ahead this time but there will be fireworks display.
The stage performances will start at 4pm with musical tribute acts and local performers before the switch-on at 5.30pm.
Deputy leader of Chorley Council, Councillor Peter Wilson, who is responsible for the switch-on, said: “We’ve got lots of surprises in store and are working with traders to give local people and visitors a fantastic Christmas experience. The event has been moved to a Saturday to give people time to do their Christmas shopping before the entertainment and fun begins on the Market Street stage.
“We expect it to be another busy day so I would encourage people to get into the town centre early.”
The main stage will be in the same place as last year at the top of Market Street.
There will also be an opportunity for people to get autographs with the celebrities following the switch-on.
