A HEAD bouncer was threatened he would be shot and stabbed after a group of men were thrown out of a Burnley nightclub, a court heard.
The town's magistrates were told how Imtiaz Ahmed had been confronted by two men, one of them hooded and the other armed with what he thought were a knife and a cosh.
The man with the blade, Foyzul Hoque, ran off and tried to escape from the police but was arrested and was found to have a chisel and another tool on him.
Mr Ahmed, who had been working at Lava and Ignite, believed they had returned to the club to carry out their threats and immediately called police.
Hoque was convicted in his absence after a trial, of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and possessing a bladed article.
The defendant, 20, of Fifth Avenue, Burnley, was committed in custody to be sentenced at crown court on October 26.
The justices told him he had a “terrible record for somebody so young”. He could now be facing jail.
Philippa WhIte, prosecuting, said in the early hours of April 13 Mr Ahmed ejected a woman and a group of men after they had been arguing. Mr Ahmed was verbally abused and the pair said they would come back and shoot him and were going to “stab him up”. The victim notified CCTV operators, police were informed, and the men moved on.
Mrs White said at about 4.15am Mr Ahmed was still at work when he saw the two men returning to the club. One was hooded and kept saying he was going to stab Mr Ahmed and kill him.
Mr Ahmed was alarmed and again contacted the CCTV operators.
Hoque told the victim: “These are for you” and exposed the palm of his right hand in which Mr Ahmed saw what he described as looking like a blade.
He immediately thought it was a knife and believed the two men had come back to carry out their threats. Mrs White said Hoque had what Mr Ahmed thought was a cosh in his left hand.
Police arrived and the defendant ran off still holding the implements.
Hoque was detained by an officer but denied knowing why he was being arrested. He was found in possession of a chisel and a tool.
